 | The Sprenger Ultra Range
KK Conrad Ultra bits take advantage of the exceptional sensitivity of the tongue. In collaboration with the Veterinary University in Hannover Sprenger researched and analysed measurements of over 70 horses' heads. They found that the interior volume of the mouth was less than previously thought and the palate was both smaller and very often flatter than previously imagined. The space left for a bit is therefore very limited.
Sprenger used this information to develop their range with the aim of improving the bits without increasing severity.
As the palate is narrower than originally assumed the lozenge in the centre was shortened to reduced pressure. The angle of the link was altered by 45 degrees.This ensures that when the reins are pulled the rounded link rests fully on the tongue without squeezing it. The tongue's sense of touch is fully utilised enabling clear instructions through the reins.
As before the ultra bits come in Aurigan, Sprenger's patented alloy, which encourages salivation.
